Badulla![]() Badulla is one of Sri Lanka’s old towns. It is a gateway to the east coast. Badulla is located 60 km southeast of Kandy. Badulla is about 230 km away from Colombo towards the eastern slopes of the central hills of Sri Lanka. about 680 metres (2200 ft) above sea level and is surrounded by picturesque hills, mountains, most of which have tea plantations. In the past Badulla was a social centre for the British. The city was the end point of upcountry railway line built by the British in order to take mainly tea plantation products to Colombo. The Dunhinda falls are just 5Km away from Badulla. It is another beautiful Waterfall in Sri Lanka. Dunhinda is 63ms high. Badulla is most visited by Sri Lankans for the worship of the Muthiyayana Viharaya, a white Dagoba in a large Buddhist complex and the Kataragama Devale, The devale with statues of God Kataragama, God Saman and God Vishnu.
