Nuwara Eliya![]() Nuwara Eliya is situated in the central mountains at an altitude of over 6000 feet. Overlooked by Mt. Nuwara Eliya\'s literal meaning is the City Of Light. The city was built entirely during the 19th century. Developed by Britisher’s as an exact replica of the British Town. Nuwara Eliya produce some of the country’s best Tea with an average temperature of 10C. In the city of Nuwara Eliya major tourist attraction places are Horton Plains (National Park), Hakgala Botanical Gardens, famous for its collection of Roses and the rear Fernery. This town is an excellent gateway for Trekkers and Nature lovers. Blessed with salubrious climate, breathtaking views of valleys, meadows, mountains and greenery, it is hard to imagine that Nuwara Eliya is only 180Km from the hot Colombo.
